Speaker/Sponsor Dinner Info

For our Speakers and Sponsors, this is for you!

Friday night we have an awesome night planned for you at a Mayslacks, a northeast institution, where the slogan is “Nobody beats Mayslack’s Meat.” So come hungry!

Afterwards, Gabe Barnett and The Pistol Whippin Party Penguins are playing and with a name like that sounds like it could be fun.

For everyone else, the best bet to keep up on what is going on is to follow @WordCampMpls and we’ll try and tweet out what our plan is after dinner.

April 26th, 6-8pm
Mayslack’s is located at:
1428 Fourth St NE
Minneapolis, MN 55413

The After Party is Worth the Price of Admission

After you’ve spent Saturday at MCTC in Downtown Minneapolis for WordCamp Mpls 2013, make sure to stick around town for the after party. With a slew of who’s who in the world of WordPress coming to present – and with many flying in from all corners of the country, it’s your chance to make connections.

After we wrap things up at MCTC, we’ll head over to WerkPress HQ for our after party. Bring your badge to get in. We’ve got your covered with drinks, food, and entertainment setup for the night. Plus, you’ll get to see what a theme shop looks like from the inside! The after party alone will be worth far more than the $20 ticket to the event! Need a ride? We’ll be organizing some carpools to WerkPress at the end of our closing remarks. You won’t want to miss it!

Look for their turquoise “W” sign on the side of the building off of 16th Ave. Enter at this door and head downstairs.

Let’s Talk About the Weather

If you’re coming in from out of town, you may have been checking the weather. Let’s just say, even us Minnesotans are DONE with the weather here. We’re below average temps and we’re getting multiple inches of snow tonight. Not cool.

But, there is light at the end of the tunnel and it’s this weekend. We’re looking at temps in the 60’s, possibly 70’s with a small chance of rain on Sunday. Much better than snow for those of you coming from places where you don’t even own coats.

We’ll think it’s a heat wave, but for those of you who find those temps chilly, pack that jacket.

See you this weekend!

WordCamp…Now With BuddyCamp

For those who’ve heard of BuddyPress but have never seen it in action and want to know more about it, make sure you stick around Sunday, April 28. BuddyCamp is everything BuddyPress. We want to give everyone an opportunity to dive into this social media add-on suite outside of a one-hour talk at WordCamp. See how BuddyPress is used and where it’s headed. You’ll also have a chance to talk to those who’ve integrated it into their site, including a talk from John James Jacoby (otherwise known as JJJ), core BuddyPress developer.

The Details:
Date: Sunday, April 28th, 12-5pm (Brunch will be provided before the first session at noon)
Format: 5 Sessions lasting about an hour each
Location: Minneapolis Central Library

Join Us for WordCamp Minneapolis This April!

We’re plugging away with all the necessary plans to make WordCamp Minneapolis successful. We’ve got the basics covered. You know, the date, location, hotel accommodations, Sunday activities – but we’re also working out what make WordCamps fun and meaningful for everyone who attends. If there is something you want to share with us while we’re still in the planning stage, let us know! That’s what makes this a great community!

For those of you who are coming from out of town, welcome to Minneapolis! Don’t worry, Minneapolis in April won’t be brutally cold, but bring a jacket, or not. It can be a bit unpredictable. Don’t be surprised if we get hit with a spring snow shower. It’s been known to happen.

Getting around in Minneapolis is easy. If you fly in, we have Light Rail that will take you directly from the airport to downtown where the event and hotel are located. There is also free bus service along Nicollet Mall (nearby) where you can find great shopping, dining and bar options.

Walking directions from the hotel to the MCTC.

Registration will open in a couple weeks. For now, we’re looking to fill speaker, sponsor and volunteer slots. If you’re local, consider volunteering. Volunteers will work in shifts so if there is a session you would like to attend, we’ll make accommodations.

Be sure to follow us on twitter for updates. See you April 27th!
